FELICIA NICOLE PRODUCTIONS & MOUNT SAINT MARY'S COLLEGE PRESENTS:
Living 4 Lust & Dying 2 Love...
Starring: Jamila Majesty as Nikki Patterson: the "Simple Minded Golddigger" & Chase Spencer as Chucky Red: the "Infamous NBA Baller"
“Street Love Monologues” is a play that explores the reality of emotions of 2 best friends who grew up in the streets of South Central LA (Nikki "simple minded gold-digger" Patterson & Paris Smith) whom secretly battles with abuse and depression. Nikki is in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend of 4 years, Chucky "Infamous NBA Baller" Red; & with the motivation of Paris, Nikki graduated from college with a BA in Journalism. Chucky is an “All-Star” NBA athlete with a super huge ego; Chucky is consistently blasted in the tabloids for his infidelities. When Nikki confronts Chucky on his infidelities, he allows his temper to get the best of him, which normally results in a physical altercation. Nikki battles with the love she has for Chucky and she accepts gifts as a form of an apology to cover up her bruises.
Paris Smith was raised in a foster home since she was 2 years old. Paris went to college with Nikki, but she became pregnant her junior year and she decided to drop out of college to marry her boyfriend of 3 years (Jordan Smith) to start a family. Unfortunately for Paris, her baby died at birth, and Paris has been battling with depression ever since. No one knows how she really feels inside because she doesn’t talk about her depression; instead, she struggles through her nightmares of the evening she gave birth to her still born. Paris’ emotions get the best of her when she overdoses on aspirin in a suicide attempt. The thought of losing Paris makes Nikki take a good look at her relationship and she questions herself, “Will I ever get to the point where I feel like life isn’t worth living anymore?”
